Virginia Public Sector Leader I

Intended for front-line or recently promoted managers

Leadership competencies at this level are the ability to: demonstrate awareness, accurate assessment and control of one’s own emotional state, attitudes, beliefs system, image and strengths in a way to maintain momentum, personal effectiveness and emotional stability, even in the face of adversity, provocation, stress and/or high workload; to plan, direct, or coordinate the operations of public sector organizations; motivate followers towards a common vision or goal and inspire them to perform beyond expectations; work cooperatively and collaboratively; recognize the impact of environmental changes on the organization and contribute to the probable response of such change.

understanding self and integrating new self-management behaviors to better engage others in process, projects, and agency duties
