VTIPG's Peer Mentor Champion Training (PMCT) is designed to help public organizations build internal capacity by equipping employees with the tools and knowledge needed to develop and sustain customized peer mentoring programs.

Unlike traditional mentoring models that emphasize hierarchy and evaluation, peer mentoring fosters collaboration, trust, and mutual support. The PMCT helps organizations create programs that emphasize community, shared growth, and belonging—foundations of a healthy, engaged workforce.

Peer mentoring shifts the focus from a one-directional transfer of knowledge to a mutual learning partnership that supports both personal and professional development. The Peer Mentor Champion Training is an interactive, three-day program that prepares participants to design, launch, and sustain an effective peer mentoring program within their organization.

Topic areas include:

  • Assessing organizational readiness and developing structures to support mentoring

  • Understanding key mentoring contexts and practices specific to peer-based programs

  • Designing recruitment, matching, and evaluation processes

  • Creating internal communication and marketing strategies to promote participation

  • Developing long-term sustainability and evaluation plans

The training venue and delivery format are flexible and determined by the sponsoring organization.

PMCT participants should be individuals passionate about employee development and willing to take an active role in shaping and implementing a mentoring program. Participants may include:

Organizations are encouraged to train a diverse group of participants who can form an initial Peer Mentor Committee to guide and sustain the program after training concludes.
