IPG GRA Announcement- Summer and Fall 2023

The Institute for Policy and Governance (IPG) has a graduate assistant/student wage position open beginning Summer 2023 to support current evaluation and research grants. The summer wage position will be a probationary period and with positive performance will be extended through the Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters with a full 20-hour GA position with tuition remission. The incumbent will assist with project related research that will include literature review, survey development, data collection and management, program evaluation, and community engagement.

Main job responsibilities include:

  • Supporting funded research and technical assistance projects
  • Assisting with monitoring data collection activities; including collection of secondary and primary data
  • Offering support in the development of training materials, presentations, and outcomes/compliance reporting
  • Conducting interviews and/or surveys, and analyzing and reporting qualitative and quantitative findings

Additional tasks (depending on main project workflow) may include:

  • Supporting other community-based projects as necessary, such as:
    • Assisting with Community needs Assessments for community partners including: data gathering, instrument development, conducting interviews/focus groups, and analyzing data
  • Researching and creating data summaries; and assisting with literature reviews to support ongoing IPG program development activities
  • Assisting with development of presentation materials for other projects

Required qualifications:

Interest in community-based projects and learning mixed methods research skills. Ability to learn new research and data management and reporting platforms. Interest in translating raw data into outcome results for multiple audiences, using descriptive level, summary statistics. Must have an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including EXCEL with a desire to learn higher level EXCEL skills (PIVOT Table Tools); and utilization of infographic design platforms such as Canva. Though not a requirement, experience working with any of the following is a plus: REDCap/PIVOT tables

Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize responsibilities, function well under pressure, pay attention to detail, work as part of a team, as well as independently, show initiative, and meet deadlines.
